Phil Kessel scored with 6:55 remaining, Marc-Andre Fleury recorded 23 saves for his second shutout in three games and the undermanned Penguins evened the Eastern Conference Finals with a 1-0 win over Ottawa on Monday.

With 6:55 left in the third period, Phil Kessel found what everybody was looking for.

The final piece of the puzzle.

Andre Burakovsky scored twice, Nicklas Backstrom got his sixth of the playoffs and the Washington Capitals beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 on Monday night to force a Game 7 in their taut Eastern Conference semifinal.

There are good nights, there are bad nights.

The Pittsburgh Penguins had themselves a bad night.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 36 shots, Justin Schultz scored the game-winner and the defending Stanley Cup champions held off the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Wednesday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Despite losing Sidney Crosby early in the game, the Penguins roared back to force overtime with a pair of goals in the final two minutes, but Kevin Shattenkirk's OT goal gave the Caps a 3-2 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

If only it were as simple as an overtime loss.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 49 saves and Sidney Crosby and Scott Wilson scored 51 seconds apart in the third period, helping the Penguins eliminate the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 5-2 win in Game 5 of their first-round series on Thursday night.

The Penguins survived, and now they advance.
